“Nail the basics first.”
Shea initially started at the gym to build strength to become better at the sports he was playing, but now he keeps it up so that he can go about his day-to-day feeling strong. Shea admits that when he first started going to the gym, he had no idea what he was doing, and would have loved a trainer to help build confidence in himself and his technique. As a trainer, he loves how rewarding it is helping others along their fitness journey.
To those just beginning their fitness journeys, Shea advises getting a trainer. A trainer can ensure that you are learning the foundational exercises correctly, which you can build on as you progress.
Shea likes to spend time to make sure the basics are done well. Once that is nailed, he then helps his clients work towards their goals, whether that be creating shape, toning the body, increasing strength, or increasing functional movements to eliminate pain.
Outside of work, his favourite hobbies consist of reading, Jiu Jitsu and drinking coffee.
